Well, @vance.lee , there are many who have gone before you. What you describe is a – perhaps “the” – principal failure mode of the B305 and several of its cousins. Perhaps you may find some counsel among the links which follow.
Recently noticed that my Balance 305 had a very abnormal looking LCD display… I decided to hard power it off and back on and the display still appears wrong. Anyone have this issue or know where I might begin looking for a solution to get a proper boot?
Thanks in advance! [20190326_131138]

Has anyone encounter the same problem that I have will peplink balance 580. It is only more than a year and suddenly stop working. Early morning and we got a complain from hotel guest about internet, when we try to troubleshot the problem, we cannot access the web GUI, and even we try to access via console but we got no luck! We have restarted the hardware several times but still it is unresponsive. Status light is green, LCD light up but no display.
Hope anyone can share if you have experience…

We just got a Balance 305 and looking around, I see a lot of mentions about problems with the battery dying and causing an issue. We haven’t put the device into service yet but can we replace the CMOS battery to be on the safe side or would that cause issues?
While I fully appreciate the urgency of an event such as you describe, I’m thinking it’s time to replace the B305, although that may not be your preferred course of action.
