Join our Open Beta - Direct Access Mode in the SFC App

Direct Access Mode is now available for open beta testing in the SFC app.

This feature allows you to access your Peplink router’s local network directly from your mobile device without routing traffic through a Cloud Location.

We invite you to participate in the beta test and share your feedback to help us improve the feature.

Instructions

Prerequisite: Ensure your router is running firmware version 8.6.0 RC3 or later (Download the firmware here) and is with at least 1 WAN with a public IP

  1. In Web Admin, go to the SF Connect > Relay Mode page. Under Device Access, select Block all except the allowed list, then add your Peplink ID to the Allowed App Users list.

  2. Log in to the SFC app using the same Peplink ID. Once signed in, your router should appear in the router list under Access allowed by network admin.

Note: If you have used the relay sharing code to add the router, you can also choose to connect to the router through a Cloud Location on the same page.

  3. Connect to the router

Once the connection is established, you will be able to access the router’s local network directly from your mobile device.

If you encounter any issues or have feedback during testing, please submit it through the app. Your feedback will help us improve the feature before its official release.

Of note, for this to work, your concentrator/router/fusionhub needs upd/8001 opened up. If not, it won’t connect.

Incidentally, is the release (not-beta) version of the SFC app not compatible with 8.6.0 RC3? I’ve had no luck getting it to work across multiple devices and networks

Only the beta version of the SFC app is compatible with 8.6.0 RC3, and the feature will be available in the next public release after the beta testing period. To test the Direct Access feature now, please join the beta program and download the beta version of the app.

Am I missing something or can you not configure direct if you already have a cloud relay configured?

The instructions don’t mention that but I’m guessing I need at least 1 WAN with a public IP. Is that correct?

Direct Access Mode is the newly added feature on Balance firmware 8.6.0 together with this SFC App 1.3.0 Open Beta. You have to purpsely add the Peplink ID to the Allowed App Users to enable this.

Otherwise, your only option is the Router Relay Mode added to SFC App by Relay Sharing Code.

Hey team, will open a ticket for this, but when connected through the beta app on either of my FusionHub endpoints or my 1350EC, we’re seeing VERY slow speeds (0.03Mbps) download. However, connected via openVPN remote user access, we’re seeing several hundred Mbps.
