Hello @Lai,
Great to see the refreshed changes coming through with the new firmware.

A few early bugs/issues/thoughts to report:

  • Content Filtering appears partly broken, example, the Preset Category option for Adware, rolled back FW to 8.0.2 and is working again.
  • Suspect Cellular WAN Networks not saving LTE & LTE/3G settings (such as choosing LTE Only & selected frequency bands), did not appear to save when rebooted, rolled back FW to 8.0.2.
  • Wireless WAN Networks not keeping WAP2/WAP3 password for the manually added network (such as for hidden SSIDs). Did not appear to save when rebooted, rolled back FW to 8.0.2 and got working again with WPA2 authentication, then rolled forward to beta and the previously saved settings were maintained.
  • System Status (ordinarily green) on the left side of PDX, does not work with Beta Release, rolled back FW and is working again. Actually, what is this indicator for on the PDX?
  • Battery status on PDX, unable to interrogate while on Battery or to run on 12VDC, solution plug-in AC (hmm).
  • On the new SpeedFusion performance page, if your press the new yellow “Export” it gets stuck just going round and round.

With the new SpeedFusion performance page, it is nice, and we’re with @MartinLangmaid on it though it needs some work on the scale to fit more dynamically into the various web browser screen sizes. These images are for a PDX with four cellular modems, as you can see it would be good to turn off the WANs that are not in use and choose the WANs you wish to focus on monitoring.

Though this is a great evolution, we look forward to seeing this within InControl2 also.

We liked the return to the Dashboard after applying changes as we could see the status of the changes getting done (by looking at the CPU) and the overall status of the device. We would prefer to have an option to view a list of pending changes before applying (just our thoughts on the change).

Was also looking for options around the new NTP Feature, where can we find more details and controls for this? Here is our previous post on the new NTP Feature.

We have deployed the Beta release to several devices (several FusionHubs, several models of MAX routers & several models of balance routers) with some of our willing clients on Tuesday morning, no other issues to report at this stage. We are planning to deploy and check soon on an SDX & EPX.

Happy to Help,
Marcus

You can enable the Netflow feature from the support page. It is currently available for x86 and powerpc devices only.

Thanks Marcus for your feedback. Could you please elaborate on the issues that you see with the Content Filtering options. Also, it would be really helpful if you could create a ticket for it, so we can troubleshoot the issue that you are running into.

Thanks
Shivani

Hello @shivanik,
Ticket 20050308 created as requested.

@mldowling

We will work with you via ticket. We may need to check from your device to confirm the issue.

can you detail which models are on x86/PowerPC?

Hello @Lai & @shivanik

We have found that an unstable LAN/Wi-Fi network connection is causing the Content Filtering issue. The two laptops used for testing each have their own internal SIMs and were getting their DNS records from that SIMs connection due to the issue with either the LAN or Wi-Fi connection. When the internal PC SIMs were disabled, and the only option was through the routers (LAN or Wi-Fi), the Content Filtering appeared to be working correctly. We note that we had not seen this with other versions of firmware (i.e. 8.0.2) on either of these two PCs and will work with Peplink in the existing ticket to verify if it is a fault with our hardware or a new firmware issues.

Another bug/issue/thoughts:

  • If the SIMs are changed while the router is powered/operational, the router fails to load the new SIMs.

We thought the system should be automatically reloading the SIMs and to keep cycling through the A & B SIM Ports indefinitely until it gets a working connection. The issue here is if the SIMs have to get changed in the field, then the router must be either power cycled or have someone locally log into to reload the SIMs.
Maybe an option to prevent automatic reload would be better if there is a security concern on people changing SIMs.

Happy to Help,
Marcus

Would you able to elaborate more for this ? Do you mean the PC have it own connection ?

We will wait for the access and investigate on it. Just for your info, we have perform a lab test and the content filtering is working as expected. We may need to check from you device for the reason why it’s not work as expected .

Do you have detail steps for this ? Suppose if the Cellular module will reload the SIM when detected a new SIM card inserted.

Please refer to the release notes for the models that support Netflow

What are the steps to enable Netflow? I dug around in the UI and cannot find the page.

login to the web ui, then change index.cgi to support.cgi in your addressbar and scroll to the bottom of that page to find the netflow bit:
