Balance 305 failed to boot

My Balance305 is failing to boot. When I try to access the BIOS using PuTTY, it gets stuck there and I can’t continue updating. I’m confused by the login message mentioned here.

Hi, @Ned_bai

Version 6.3.4… So it is a very old device.
Have you try to reset the device, using the " control " under/side the LCD of the device?

If you are certain your credentials are correct my guess is is that the CMOS battery has died. This is a known issue with older devices – and your unit certainly fits that description. ;<)

More information here → System failed to boot .

This is my Balance 305. I’m not quite sure what you mean; I couldn’t find a button that could reset.

Hi…
Look at below the LCD… up, down, enter, esc… use this to reset your device to factory default.

However, my screen is not displaying anything.

Currently, I can only control it through the command-line interface (CLI).

Well, as @MarceloBarros mentioned, your B305 is a really old one. I’d suggest replacement be considered. As an additional benefit, you’d be able to use current firmware – many improvements over the version you’re running.

Okay… thank you for your help, I’ll consider getting a replacement.

If you open it up, pull out the CF-card and put it an a CF card reader connected to a Linux machine, you can find the admin password in the ‘config’ file on the 4th partition.
