Speedfusion tunnels from China?

Has anyone had any experience with this working or not working? I have a customer who has a site there, he’s gone out with a Max transit router which will tunnel back to the UK.

Its behaving erratically at best, sometimes DNS works sometimes it doesn’t and some things work from incontrol but remote admin doesn’t and more importantly neither does the SF tunnel back to the UK.

Am guessing its the ‘great firewall’ blocking certain things but wondered if anyone has experience of getting this working successfully in China ?(changing SF ports perhaps?)

If it helps anyone else, this seemed to get resolved by changing the health mechanism to ping instead of the default smartcheck.

Its just doing a ping to the default allocated DNS servers from the sim provider and this seems to work fine and it resolves the stability on the unit, it seems doing the DNS checks was causing the links to appear unstable, probably because of in country filtering and controls.

Hello @cgreen,
Are you able to let us know what Chinese carrier the SIM was with, we have a client from Australia travelling to China for business who wants a secure VPN back to there HQ in Australia while away and we are looking to see if PepVPN will work for them using a MAX BR1 Mrk2 LTEA (APAC).
Happy to Help,
Marcus

Hi Marcus,

These were customer locally supplied sims from China Telecom if it helps. As mentioned above we found it kept failing the health checks attempting the usual DNS lookups, when we changed it to a simple ping only it only failed when the cellular connection actually dropped.

Cheers
Chris
