[Known Issue] [8.5.2] Balance 20X - Unexpected Crash

Ref.: #34159, #341607

Details [2025-06-18]:
We have received several reports from users experiencing issues with their Balance 20x devices becoming unstable, mostly showing rebooting or freezing after updating to the 8.5.2 GA firmware.

Upon investigation and extensive tests in the lab, we noticed that the lab unit exhibits the symptom when a high volume of traffic is passing through.

We have prepared a special firmware (8.5.2s067) to mitigate the issue. The fix will be included in the next GA release.

Affected firmware version:
8.5.2 GA (8.5.2-build5581)

Affected models:
Balance 20X

Fixed in firmware version:
8.5.2s067

Download link: here.

Workaround:
Optionally, you can downgrade to the previous firmware version, eg. 8.5.1 or earlier.

Additional Notes:
This special firmware is based on 8.5.2s051, which is originally prepared to fix this B20X unexpected crash issue. Also, added the fixes in 8.5.2s042, that fixed the known issue described in this article.

Users who are running either 8.5.2s026, 8.5.2s042, or 8.5.2s051, should consider upgrading to this special firmware.

Should this special release be installed on the Balance One Core as well?

@chris_heard , the issue only affected to b20x & the firmware is only for the B20x.

We applied this three weeks ago to a 20X running 8.5.2 GA that would randomly begin dropping and reconnecting at least one of its three WAN connections, especially the VLAN-WAN. This seems to have fixed the issues, many thanks.
