Hi all, hoping for some help. I have an Xfinity Gateway, with a Balance 20X plugged in via LAN. Both are broadcasting a wifi signal, sitting about 2ft from each other. Standing 10 feet from both, connecting to each, using Google’s native speed test tool, the wifi connecting from the Xfinity gateway gives me 150-200Mbps. The Balance 20X gives me 30-40Mbps. I don’t have any vpn set up on the balance, or anything else I can imagine would decrease speed so much. Furthermore, the signal from the Balance is MUCH weaker. When I move to the next room of my house, the Xfinity wifi speed stays about the same, but the speed on the Balance drops by half. If I move to the other end of the house the Xfinity signal is still strong, while I struggle to get more than 2-6Mbps from the Balance. Anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on here? Thank you for the help!!
Hmmm. Well, to start with, I think when I’d do the test with one AP I’d turn the other one completely off. When you do it that way do you still see such differences?
And, have you set the Xfinity gateway to IP Passthrough or bridge mode?
Finally, must you use one of their gateways rather than a modem? (We have Xfinity service at a few locations and use modems. It’s also less expensive.)
