WOW! Fiber Calix ONT Model 742GE w/BR1 ENT

We have been having trouble integrating the hardware used for Fiber optic 100Mbps Internet Service. This has happened on multiple locations and the provider does not know why it is going on at the moment.

Interface: WAN Port
Unit: Pepwave MAX BR1 ENT
Fiber: Calix ONT Model 742GE

The WAN does not appear to lose Ethernet connectivity, but all of a sudden we cannot get out until the provider reboots the Calix ONT Model 742GE. They are saying it could be a problem with the Pepwave MAX BR1 ENT. Is this possible?

May i know the WAN connection method for the BR1 ENT (Static IP, PPPoE or DHCP)?

Beside that, do you do onsite troubleshooting for the issue ?

When the issue happen:

  1. Login to BR1 WebAdmin:
  • Check the WAN health check status (Make sure WAN are successful)
  • Using ping tools to ping to the WAN Gateways (Calix ONT Model 742GE)
  • Ping to the Internet by IP address and domain name.

→ If WAN health failed and ping to WAN Gateways “request timeout”, this show that the Gateway (Calix ONT Model 742GE) not responding.
→ if Ping Gateway is ok and Ping Internet is “request timeout” than that should related to the internet connection issue

Just curios, rebooting BR1 will recover the issue ? It’s very weird that rebooting Calix ONT Model 742GE will recover the issue as rebooting the Calix ONT Model 742GE should not cause anything to the BR1 ENT.

I am not sure if rebooting the Peplink solved it or not. This issue hasn’t resurfaced in quite sometime.
