WiFi Repeater cannot interact with LAN

Hello,

I have been having WiFi problems with my Peplink BR1 in my RV – the wifi signal really poor (37’ with the Peplink mobility antenna). I decided I would try a off-the-shelf WiFi repeater to see if that helped. My findings so far is that it’s helped quite a bit, but I’m having routing problems that I’m hoping there is a setting in Peplink I can use to address.

I have three SSIDs setup in Peplink: A (2.4/5ghz), B(2.4 only) and C(5ghz only)

Most user devices (e.g. laptops, phones, etc.) connect historically to A, and most IoT devices connect historically to B. The SSID “C” was created recently only for the WiFi repeater to use because it was having trouble connecting and working with the dual-band “A” SSID.

So now I have clients on A, B and C… What I’m seeing is this:

Clients can ping each other from (A ↔ B works)
Clients connected to C can see each other (C ↔ C works)
Clients connected to C cannot interact with A or B (C ↔ A, C ↔ B – neither works)
All clients on A, B and C can access WAN

I also note in the client table that all the devices using the repeater’s WiFI show up as different IP addresses but the same MAC address. E.g. 10.11.12.3 is a device attached to C, but Peplink is reporting its MAC as the repeater’s MAC address. If I connect my laptop to the Repeater I see the same – my IP of 10.11.12.75 shows up but the MAC is again the repeater (so I end up with the same MAC twice in my client list)

There is basically zero configuration on this repeater device – I can’t change any routing or other such behaviors. Basically I can just tell it what SSID to repeat and that’s it. I’m hoping there is something I can do on the Peplink side to fix the issue so I don’t have to have every single client on the repeater in some form for them to speak to each other? I hope so, it seems like that should be possible since they can all get out to WAN through the Peplink?
