White list MAC Address

Hi

We need to be able to white-list both mac addresses and IPs of devices in the LAN interface. The white-listed devices need to have internet access without having to interact with the captive portal.

We are asking to implement this features in the build 6.1.1s64 build 1678 available here http://download.pepwave.com/firmware/br1/fw-max_br1-6.1.1s64-build1678.bin

The reason is that this build contains specific fixes and features developed for us (Social & Beyond, and Veox), mainly the ability to authenticate via JSONP get, and some fixes in the radius communication. This development was coordinated with Gary Liu in May 2014.

Hi,

I have feedback this to engineering team. They will get back to you soon.

Hi Pablo,

Here’s our understanding on the requested feature based on your description.

  1. The white-list solely applies to captive portal on LAN while all outbound policies / firewall rules still apply.
  2. Web UI provides configuration on white-list which allow input of MAC addresses and IP addresses. Devices which match either the MAC address / IP address are allowed to bypass the captive portal redirection and login processes.

Please let us know if the above items are correct and we will review the request and make estimation on the possible delivery date.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary

this is correct. I add that this funcionality must be done on build 6.1.1s64 build 1678 firmware version. It would this be possible?

Hi Pablo,

Thanks for your help on testing the “Whitelist MAC Address” feature. FYI, this will also be included in 6.2.0 standard firmware.
