Which WAN port does my router use for its internal purposes

I'm currently setting up my Peplink B One router. I will eventually enable the router's local NTP Server feature. I plan to have the Untagged LAN and one VLAN use only the WAN1 port and a second VLAN use only the WAN2 port. Which WAN port will the router use when it goes out onto the internet to update its time, when it checks for firmware updates, or when the Content Filtering Database Auto Update feature is enabled? Can I control which WAN port is used? If yes, how?

In general most services follow outbound policy rules. For example if you force all outbound traffic onto WAN 2, InControl outbound management traffic, Remote Web Admin traffic as well as LAN sourced user traffic will all go that way too.

If you want to be more granular then more narrow outbound policies with source / destination IPs / Ports set would let you control service by service. So a rule with UDP123 would let you control NTP server traffic.

I think his question was how does the router itself reaching ic2 flow, does it just use the default rule, and if you want to force it you use source 192.168.50.1 as an example?
In the past I’ve done domain name peplink.com and enforced or priority rules.

Thanks for both responses. I don’t use InControl or other Peplink subscription products. I referring strictly to the standard features built into the router’s web administrator interface as I indicated in my original post.

Martin, some outbound traffic will go thru WAN1 and other outbound traffic will go thru WAN 2. I was planning on controlling this by using ENFORCED outbound policies to force the untagged LAN and one VLAN to use WAN1 and another ENFORCED outbound policy to force the other VLAN to use WAN2.

Also, how do I get my original post to look like all the other posts on this forum? What I’m seeing on my screen is one line of text with a horizontal scroll bar beneath it.
