You indicated that you successfully tested 1GB fiber modules in the onboard SDX ports - can you please share what modules you had success with?
What is intresting is it worked on SFP port 1 using a 10g Ubiquity SFP, but now we can not get it to lower to 1Gbps anymore. I think PepLink need to seriously fix this or give FlexModules for free to thoes having this issues.
Additional Note:
On all Peplink Models of Switches and Routers, DO NOT USE the “Auto” port speed; manually set the speed on both ends of the link; we typically set them to 1Gbps.
In a Peplink Router, you need to set this from the Web Admin
In a Peplink Switch, this can be done from InControl2 or the Web Admin

I agree here - we’ve seen lots of “interesting” things happen when doing this
We have manually forced the port speed on our SDX and SDX Pros when using a 1GB Copper, Duplex Fiber or BiDi fiber optic and the connected switch on the other end, and the result is the same - the port never comes up.
While I appreciate your response with this information, this does not help solve the problem.
FrontierUS is now monitoring our ticket. Hopefully that will give it some traction.
What actually needs to happen here is for Peplink to provide documentation around proper SFP specifications, and then we can use someone like FS.com to flash their SFPs with compatible firmware. Given that this is an ongoing issue and Peplink doesn’t seem to have the tools/expertise to standardize SFP capabilities, they should provide the tools for us to do it on our own with an independent third party.
I have an FS tool and probably spent a few hours trying all different combinations and no luck. I do believe this is a issue with onboard hardware of the router. But I do agree, some type of clarification would be useful.
Forcing Speed does not work for us on our SDX Pro.
Hello @Michael_Supczenski,
We recommend creating a support ticket with Peplink if you are still having issues referring to this forum thread.
We also always ensure that each end of the fibre has a matching SFP (the same brand, SKU, and batch). We have seen people caught unmatched ends many times.

We have a ticket open and have Frontier assisting. We are very familiar with SFPs and fiber. Were just taking about the drivers that are on the router hardware at this moment.
Peplink is basically having me start over on the ticket. Ticket has been open for almost six months already. Surprised this isn’t being replicated and investigated in a PL engineering lab somewhere.
You’ve commented on this thread a few times. I appreciate your willingness to help - have you successfully run a 1Gbps SFP copper or fiber module in the onboard SDX or SDX pro SFP cages with any success?
Hello @Maxwell_Paine,
These are the SFP Copper Transceivers we’ve successfully used for the Peplink SD-Switches.
- Plusoptic 10/100/1000Mbps, Copper SFP, 100M Transceiver, RJ-45 Connector for Copper ( https://www.4cabling.com.au/plusoptic-10-100-1000mbps-copper-sfp-100m-transceiver-rj-45-connector-for-copper-plusoptic-sfp-t-gfe-plu.html )
- Plusoptic 1.25G, Copper SFP, 100M Transceiver, RJ-45 Connector for Copper | Industrial temperature rated ( https://www.4cabling.com.au/plusoptic-sfp-t-plui-1-25g-copper-sfp-100m-transceiver-rj-45-connector-for-copper-sfp-t-plui.html )
- Plusoptic 10G, Copper SFP+, 30M Transceiver, RJ-45 Connector for Copper - CAT6 ( https://www.4cabling.com.au/plusoptic-10g-copper-sfp-30m-transceiver-rj-45-connector-for-copper-cat-6-sfp-10g-t-plu.html )
We have not recently re-tested them on the Peplink SDX or Peplink SDX Pro, though we have previously, and from memory, they worked OK; unfortunately, our lab currently does not have spare SDX units to test with.

Still no official response from peplink on our ticket, I just bumped it. It’s either 1Gb SFPs work in the onboard ports or they don’t. I’m really just looking for an official answer at this point. Several people in this forum say yes they do, PL support says yes they do and gave me a list of supported FS SFPs, but none of them work and the datasheet says it only does 10G. Very confused and frustrated customer here.
Have you tried forcing the speed on both ends, i.e. not just setting the Peplink to 1G, but also the other device (even if the other device is a 1g sfp device, by default its likely to be in auto and should be set to 1g full duplex).
Sure have, that was one of the first things I tried before even contacting anybody. No dice.
