Please go easy on me, I’m in over my head.
I was having trouble with my old Surf Soho blocking web sites passing through my work VPN (Palo Alto Networks). It started out with only a few sites getting blocked, such as Google, but then started blocking things like Jira, which is needed for work. I got to the point that I had to use a VM inside my company network to connect to most of the web.
I ended up buying a B-One, mostly because I’m looking at getting 1 gbps internet, but also hoping it would resolve my issue with my work VPN. That didn’t happen. I’m still getting blocked.
Note: My personal rig, connected straight to the internet on the same home network, has no issues.
For now, I’ve given up and am running straight from my AT&T gateway, which scares me to death.
I apologize for my ignorance but I’m desperate. What do I need to check to fix this? What settings do you need me to post?
Hi…
Look at your Peplink…
go to Advanced > Content Blocking.
What you have configured?
Also…
Are you sending all your traffic network to Palo Alto?
This Palo Alto… it is also your DNS server?
It have some kind of rule to deny your traffic?
To understand better your setup
You have a work laptop/PC that has a work VPN connecting to the Palo Alto at your workplace?
And you are seeing blocking of sites whilst on this VPN, meaning that ALL your traffic is running through the VPN and getting onto the internet via your work internet connection?
connecting to those sites directly (not using the VPN) works fine.
And to clarify, the VPN is not configured on the Peplink, but on the Work PC?
If this is the case, then the peplink here is not the issue, but rather the Palo Alto firewall, which may have rules put in place to not permit access to certain internet sites for connections coming in via VPN.
You can confirm this by connecting to the Palo Alto VPN from an alternative location… same issue, → confirms the issue being at the Palo Alto firewall.
