Voip over LTE

Hi Support,

Our client have plan to create a Voip over LTE /Celullar with Peplink.

There are 12 site connected with HD2/ BR1 Modem and LTE modem only. at each site there will be VoIP Audio distribution devices .

I said that they have to create PepVPN connection between the Max HD 2 with mess configuration, check routing and install voip devices at each site.

Is it is possible to create PepVPN without IP Public ( pure cellular network ) ?
What is requirement for this configuration ? attached configuration

Need assistance in this.

Best regards

Yes. It is. The trick is to work with a MVNO who can give you static CGNAT / private IPs that can route to each other. Many can. Then you can add DNS entries for each site (or your hub sites) and use PepVPN to build tunnels targeting those static IPs.

From your diagram it seems that the sites all need to route directly to each other.
You’ll be thinking about building a fully mesh topology to enable that but it might not be the best way to build it. Most smaller Peplink products support either 2,3 or 5 VPN tunnels without additional licensing. You have 12 sites, so a full mesh would require the purchase of extra peer licenses.

The other disadvantage behind fully mesh is that if you add a different type of connection at a site (like public wifi, or DSL) because the cellular connectivity is poor, a fully meshed deployment would require you to be able to route to and from that connection which won’t always work.

My advice - because I suspect that you’ll get much better results, is to work with a MVNO and add a Fusionhub to their network as the central routing point. That way all sites only need to know the single IP of the fusionhub to create a reliable PepVPN but they can still route to each other.

Suggest you approach one of us Peplink partners for some assistance with this project. Many of us do this kind of thing all day every day for multiple customers so although you’ll likely need to pay for some professional services, you’ll get a solution that works faster than doing it yourself…

Good luck!

Hi Martin,

Just got detail configuration from customer that they need to install system with Multicast and unicast support.

My first solution for them was L3 PepVPN ( routing ) but then i find out that L3 PepVPN not support Multicast only L2 PepVPN support but not support multicast between VLAN.

Is this correct or any update about PepVPN in supporting multicast ?

Thanks and best regards

Hi Martin,

Is there any possibility to use multiple tunnel ( L2 and L3 ) to support above configuration ? Do you have experience in this ?

Since we l3 pepvpn not support multicast, we need another solutions.

Thanks and regards
