I manage several Pepwave APOne Minis with my Peplink 305. i’d like to give my guest network its own VLAN and own subnet, but have been struggling
My Default LAN (no Vlan tag) uses 192.168.12.1/24
I’d like the guest net to use 192.168.15.1/24. So, I create a LAN with IP address 192.168.15.1, name Guest, VLAN ID 10, enable DHCP server with range of 192.168.15.5 through 255
I then go to AP/Wireless SSID and choose my guest SSID. I give it VLAN 10.
After that syncs to the access points, clients connecting to that SSID are no longer able to connect to the internet. What am I doing wrong?

This may be a wild guess: Do you have a managed switch between the APs and the router? If so, is VLAN 10 properly trunked between the ports on the switch that the APs and the router use?
We once had a similar symptom, and it was traced back to a managed Buffalo switch where the new VLAN had not been set up as a tagged member of the ports used by the APs and the router.
Just a thought.
There is! Its a netgear managed switch. I will try this and see if it fixes it
Hello @mille1j,
We have found with the Netgear switches that you are best to use the Advanced VLAN options 802.1Q
These are a bit tricky to setup properly with the correct Port Tagging and VLAN assignments if you’ve not done them before, do make sure to have the latest firmware in the switch and a
Paper Clip handy as it is easy to lock yourself out when changing the VLANs.
Happy to Help,

A paperclip is your friend ![ ](//forum.peplink.com/images/emoji/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)
Make sure you follow the basic routine of reconfiguring (preaching to the choir, I am sure):
- Save the configuration
- Reconfigure as you think best.
- Test the setup
- If crash and burn: Use paperclip, restore from the backup
- Repeat until happy

In your case ir sounds fairly straightforward - make all the ports connecting to devices where the packets are already tagged (i.e., your AP minis and the router) members of VLAN 10, and make the ports trunk ports to ensure your tags are retained.

Not preaching to the choir. took me all of 1 minute to screw it up and have to do a factory reset
I’m going to need more help
I have these LANs setup on my Peplink
Main
Guest
Phones
as shown here:
I’ve setup “Phones” with a connection to a single switch, set the port type to access, and set it to VLAN phones. Works Great.
So, now i’m trying to setup Guest. I’ve given it VLAN 20 and network 192.168.20.1/24 with settings as shown here:
Peplink Ports are set to Trunk
Is there anything else that needs to be done on the Peplink?
Next, on Netgear GS748T
I goto Switching/VLAN
Add VLAN ID “20” with VLAN Name “Guest”, type is Static. Add that.
Then, goto VLAN Membership. Here is where I think I get messed up. What all do I need to tag?
Right now, for VLAN ID 1, all ports are showing untagged.
For the VLAN ID 2 and 3 (defaults on Netgear) all ports are blank
For the newly created VLAN 20, all ports are blank.
Do I select VLAN 20 and just tag the port that connects the device I want to put onto guest VLAN 20 and the port that connects the switch to the peplink? Do I need to modify anything for VLAN ID 1? Note: My peplink is connected to this switch using LAG on ports 18 & 20

But this stil doesn’t seem to work. What am i missing?
I think I hate Netgear…
Hello @mille1j,
Be it Netgear or any other brand of consumer grade switch (even enterprise ones like CISCO & HPE) all need to be properly setup to handle VLANs and they all have there own unique way to be setup, although there is a standard of 802.1Q, each manufacture has there own integration on that standard.
One thing we have noticed is that you are using:
- MFD on VLAN “None”
- Phones on VLAN “1”
From our experiences the majority of systems (Peplink/Pepwave included) a VLAN on “None” is the equivalent to a VLAN of “1”, as the VLAN of “1” is the default VLAN when a VLAN is not defined. “None” does not equal “0” (zero).
So fist step is to change your VLAN that you are using for the Phones to another number.
Also if you plug the device directly into the Pepwave, does it work?
