The following is a step-by-step guide to activate your Virtual WAN Activation License.

Step 1: Access the Web Admin of your device. Navigate to the “System” tab and then “Feature Add-ons”. Copy and paste the license key onto this section, then click “Activate”. For the license key to take effect, reboot your device.

Step 2: Once the router boots up, you will see virtual WAN interfaces listed under the “Network” tab.

Step 3: Choose between 2 ways to configure the virtual WAN, either:
a. Bind the virtual WAN interfaces to the physical WAN port or (follow Step 4);
b. Bind the virtual WAN interfaces to the physical LAN port (skip to Step 5)

Step 4: The following steps will show how to configure the virtual WAN by binding the virtual WAN interfaces to the physical WAN port.
a. The diagram below is a sample network diagram.

b. The WAN cable from ISP 1 will be connected to VLAN 10 inside the switch.
c. The WAN cable from ISP 2 will be connected to VLAN 20 inside the switch.
d. Configure a trunk link at the switch that will carry both VLAN 10 and VLAN 20.
e. Connect the trunk link to the WAN port of the Balance 20X.
f. Go to the “VLAN WAN 1” configuration page and select “WAN” as the Uplink Interface. Input the correct VLAN ID, which in this case is “10”.

g. Repeat (f) with the “VLAN WAN 2” configuration page, but input “20” as the VLAN ID.

h. Click “Save and Apply”.

Step 5: The following steps will show how to configure the virtual WAN by binding the virtual WAN interfaces to the physical LAN port.

Step 5 Alternative: It is also possible to configure an extra Virtual WAN on LAN without using an extra L2 Switch. To do this with the Balance 20X’s Port-Based VLAN, continue with the following steps.

a. Open the WAN Connection Settings and select the Virtual WAN settings (VLAN 5) accordingly as shown below.

b. When VLAN 5 is configured as the Virtual WAN, VLAN 5 will be reserved.

c. Configure LAN Port 2 as the “Access Port” for the reserved VLAN 5. You will then be able to directly connect the Internet Modem/Router (Access/Untagged Port) to Port 2.
