Upgrading Max BR1 LTEA to Max BR1 5G

I am upgrading my Max BR1 LTEA Router (Running 8.5.6) to a Max BR1 5G.
I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use the Config Backup and Restore option to transfer my config from the LTEA model to the 5G router?
I would assume they would need to be the same firmware version, so I would just put 8.5.6 on the new router. I am not ready to go to the 8.6 version quite yet.
Anyone tried this or something similar?

So, I used 2 laptops and had the new router up on one and the LTEA router on the other.
Took me 3 hours to get all of the settings transferred and verified.
I have an Antenna Max, so brought it down and swapped out the devices and put it back on the RV roof. Changed the temp SSID, and did some testing. All is working as expected.

InControl2 has a configuration copy tool that may have saved you many hours. If you purchased your new router from a Certified Peplink Partner, they should have been able to assist/guide you on that.

Glad, though, that you got yourself operational. Enjoy your new Peplink BR1 5G router.

I talked to MobileMustHave over chat and got a sales guy. He suggested a thread that said to use InControl2 to transfer the config between dissimilar routers, but there were no details in that thread. I figured a couple hours learning InControl2 or a couple hours doing it manually. It was easier for me to trust the manual method, if I couldn’t just import it directly.
I may take a look at InControl2 so I am aware of it’s capabilities.

For the model you have, experienced Peplink Certified Engineers can complete the initial transfer using InControl2 in under 30 minutes, including starting with both units powered off and performing the firmware upgrade(s) on the units if necessary (pending the quality of the internet connection). I’ve done this remotely with many of our partners and customers when requested.

It’s best to let the salesperson know about this thread and that they should have referred you to their internal Peplink Certified Engineer (or even a Peplink Certified Associate) to help you.

To be fair, the marins on Peplink hardware are lean, so most Peplink partners will charge for the required support time.
