Unsupported 4G USB modem support requested, status?

OK, great, thanks!

It has been 3 months since I initiated a support request for the Huawei E5786 hotspot.
I understand that you have this device in your lab since 2 months, and are working on a compatible driver.
Any idea when that will be ready?
I really look forward to be able to use this Cat6 hotspot directly connected to my Peplink.

Thanks

Yeah, I am definitely wondering about this, too. Hopefully, it is soon. Thanks.

Hello,

I will ping USB engineering team to see where things are at with this particular modem.

Thank you!

Hi all,

We need more time to develop the driver since it is a new LTE CAT6 modem. We will keep you posted the update.

Thank you.

Thanks TK, I really hope it is soon because we’ve been talking about this device for awhile now and Dovado has supported this device for almost a year (since late October 2014) and it is one of the most cutting edge hotspots in terms of hardware (but Huawei’s OS and software leaves much to be desired). Dovado only had it at 150mbps at first but in early November 2014, they claimed to have gotten it to 300mbps.

I am using an e5786 via a Dovado Pro to connect to my Pepwave Max OTG and ultimately, to my Balance One. Also, Dovado is a much smaller company with lower quality products so hopefully, you can support this device soon, too. Thanks again!

Noted. Engineering team is working hard to develop the driver. Anyway thanks for info.

No problem, yep I am just saying they could do it in stages, too. First, support it for 150mbps or whatever and then work on the maximum speed later.

Hi,

Wondering if there is any progress on supporting the Huawei E5786?

This is a system log of the Dovado Tiny establishing a usb connection to the modem:

Thanks

Yep me, too. It has been almost 4 months since Zoloft originally asked and it has been a couple of months since we’ve had a firmware update on the Balances and PW Max’s. Should we expect anything any time soon? Thanks!

Hi,

I posted a system log above in the hope that it can assist your lab in supporting the E5786.
Have you been able to convey it to your engineering team?

Thanks

Hi Zoloft,

This is well noted by the engineering team. Thanks for the info.

I will continue chase engineering team for the update.

Thank you.

Hi,
It has been 6 months since support for this device was requested and I believe it is approaching 2 years since this device was released. I was under the impression when I bought my Peplink devices that supporting 3G/4G devices was a much higher priority. I have seen very few if any new modems or hotspots added to your list in the last few months in fact. I wasn’t disappointed before but I am really starting to be now. Thanks.

Hi,
Are there still plans to support the Huawei E5786 modem? Has your support team made any progress? Thanks.

Hi all,

We know this has been delay for long. We still facing some technical issue to support for this modem. However, we still not giving up. Development still ongoing.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi,

I understand that you are having issues developing a compatible driver for this particular modem, but the similar LTE-A Netgear AC790S is also not supported.
I am aware of more recent modem/routers that are on the market NOW that exceed the CAT6 standard, @600 Mbit/s data speeds. And that 1 Gigabit/s modems are about 1 year away. I hope you will be able to support these upcoming devices.

Thanks

Just a quick note: I am happy to announce that the Netgear AC790S is now supported on 6.3.1
I have been running it under a heavy load for the past several days, and it is giving fantastic speed and stability.
Thank you!

Thanks for the update.

Hi,
Are there still plans to support the Huawei E5786 modem? Has your support team made any progress? Another 6+ months has past and almost 1 year and 3 months since it was originally requested and still not supported. :frowning: Thanks.
