Unable to Ping Google from LAN on Peplink Balance 210

Hello everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with my Peplink Balance 210 where I am unable to ping Google dns 8.8.8.8 or www.google.com from the web admin interface while the LAN is selected. However, if I select the WAN connection, the ping to google is successful.

DNS Proxy Settings is Enabled
DNS Caching is Enabled
Google Public DNS Servers is Included
LAN DNS Servers is assign automatically but I set to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 is also same

Has anyone faced a similar problem or have any insights on what might be causing this? Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

That’s how that function works, its a ping from the interface, without routing- ie your ping will exit the chosen interface.

I agree that being able to originate a ping from the LAN IP to somewhere else (ie with routing) would be good and I hope peplink add that option at some point, but right now what you are seeing is the expected behaviour.
