I decided to finally try two Tmobile ISP gateways into a B-One. Each one is cabled into a WAN port. But, these gateway units are really locked down. The admin IP address is the same on both units and can’t be changed. I’ve tried to set a separate dns name for each device and then an outbound policy rule to enforce them to a specific wan port but that is not working. Which ever rule is listed first defines where either dns resolves to.
Are there any other tricks in the Peplink to allow me to access these modems short of setting vlans and either switching ssids or lan ports to swap between modems?
You can try
https://192.168.1.1/WAN1/Gateway/
adjusting for your IP range and changing to WAN2, 3, 4 etc for each connection. I have had somewhat poor luck with this method since 2 of my ISPs modems redirect to a fake dns name that breaks this method. Also don’t know if the virtual WANs can be connected to in a similar way since they get their own numbering convention starting back over at 1.
FYI if it helps anyone, you can get to the synergized router settings page directly through the synergy controllers wan port with this method. Basically only useful if you need the support page to monitor connection health or update a modem firmware though.
Hope this works for you, as I said, it’s hit and miss
Oh, interesting.
I just tried this and found that WAN1, WAN, WAN3 all give me a 404 Not Found page (that appears to be from nginx). BUT, WAN2 just gives me a blank page - no error.
Is this documented somewhere? I just did a keyword search in the B One manual and didn’t find this.
Sorry, can’t help you there, I think I stumbled in to this back when I had multiple starlink connections before there was integration. Someone else might be able to chime in, I would love to figure out how to get it to work with my setup trying to redirect to a dns but I think I am out of luck too.
Since the Tmobile units have 2 ethernet ports on them, I’m starting to wonder if running two cables to my desk is the easiest way to do this.
chatGPT seems to think that if i use Incontrol2 I can set up the routing there and/or I can access the admin pages through the incontrol2 website. But, I’m looking for a way for the hint app (3rd party mobile app that someone made) to connect to the units. The actual interface at the ip:80 doesn’t really do anything at all. And neither does the Tmobile app.
I had this same situation (two cable modems w/ same admin IP). You can set an outbound policy that forces the connection to one or the other modem, and then manually enable or disable that rule. That allows you to see one or the other, but not both at once.
I just played around with an outbound rule (from the ip of my laptop on the local lan) enforcing to a specific WAN and I could not get the rule to work. I think the peplink keeps a route (session) alive once established to a particular wan and won’t let go unless that wan is disabled.
Interesting - I think it used to work, but I no longer have the dual-cable-modem setup so I can’t test it out again.
Perhaps you have identified a bug if it’s not updating the route?
