Trouble connecting to WIFI-WAN Starlink

So I have set it to connect to Starlink antenna over 5GHz Wi-Fi. In the Wi-Fi list, it says it is connected, but in the priorities list, it just keeps scanning indefinitely. What am I missing here?

Here is how the main screen looks

Speculating here, but I see your Starlink is on ch124 on 5GHz.

Depending on where you are that could have a very long radar timeout, the Wi-Fi WAN feature works by setting the AP in the Peplkink to the same channel, then time sharing between being an AP and a client as you have an SSID configured for 5GHz.

In a lot of European countries the CAC/DFS timeout for that channel is quite long - 10 minutes in a lot of places.

So two things:

  1. Does it start working after say around 10 minutes of “scanning” - if you remove your 5GHz SSID I wonder if this speeds up and starts working quicker, as technically the client operation does perform the DFS CAC test, that is the duty of the AP.

  2. Can you change the channel that your Starlink is using to something else and see if it connects, as a general reference for 5GHz Wi-Fi in Europe:

  • CH36-48 do not require DFS.

  • CH52-64 do require DFS, typically a 60 second CAC timeout

  • CH100-144 do require DFS, typically a 60 second CAC timeout (except ch120/124/128 which are typically 10 minutes).

  • CH149-165 is very varied across Europe, some countries permit their use for Wi-Fi, others do not and the rules around DFS and power levels are also very varied, generally I’ve not seen Peplink support these channels on European country codes.

I had to leave the boat. But loging into Incontrol it seems it has successfully connected?
Can I see which one is the preferred connection using incontrol? I have not tried setting up speedfusion yet.

Hi…

This is my screen for BR1 PRO 5G

You can see words Priority 2…

Can you try the remote dashboard at your device and check?
Maybe is everything at Priority 1.

Thank you!
I found the remote dashboard now, and you were right. They were both on priority 1. I am a total noob with peplink, but this remote management system sure seems to work wonders
Do you know anything about roaming settings for Starlink WIFI-WAN? Should it be enabled? Basic or advanced algorithm?

Hi, @heltenraymond
Sorry… I don’t have Starlink, yet… It is coming… Anatel rules.
