Transit Duo Cellular Data stops working, log shows time sync failure

Strange issue started happening requiring a power off to get data working again from cellular. Pulled the logs and found that the time fails to synrchonise and that seems to be the only issue that matches with the failure. Cellular starts working on WAN immediately after a hard restart. Have updated to the new firmware, and set use GPS for time and the original time server as secondary, but am still getting the failure, although not as frequent.

Any ideas here?

Thank you

Hi!

I want to emphasize that the cellular disconnections do not happen due to timesync failures. It’s the other way around - the timesync fails as the network connection is disconnected. These can be small disconnections that aren’t enough to warrant a healthcheck failure, but can stop NTP from working properly.

Some things that you could check/try:

  • Is the cellular signal good? Are all of the cellular antennas connected correctly?
  • Experiment with a different cellular provider.

If you need any more help with finding the reason for the disconnections, feel free to open up a support ticket.

Ive checked and cellular connection is good in the area where it fails.

Im running one network on Sim 1 A (1010) and another network on Sim 1 B (China Mobile) and again China Mobile in Sim 2 A with bonding.

I can get speeds of around 150mbps with this set up where I am most of the time.

However there are many times in the day where the connection stops entirely and we are getting this time sync failure. I have to reboot the Peplink to get it to work again.

Any ideas?

It’s hard to say without looking at the settings and the logs. Like I mentioned, feel free to create a support ticket and our team will investigate.
