Tips for Achieving a Stable Connection with Starlink + Peplink?

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some advice on improving the stability of my Starlink and Peplink (BR1 Mini) setup. When it works, it works well, but I often encounter issues where the system reports “no cable detected” and frequently searches for the connection. Speed isn’t an issue, but having a consistent connection is - even when my Starlink is reporting no obstructions and clear skies.

I’ve seen recommendations in various threads to set the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and to use 100 Mbps Full Duplex. While these suggestions run okay, they haven’t completely resolved the issue for me.

Does anyone have any tips or specific settings that have worked for achieving a smoother and more stable connection? Any advice on configurations or additional troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

What hardware are you using?

I really love our SL connected via max br 5g pro. What I have found is that SL does auto reboot when it is looking for signal (I,e, the no cable message I have seen during times when the dish is auto restarting during times it is trying to acquire signal (parked in garage etc etc).

One of the success factors is the health check that I have setup. Cannot take credit for it as I copied someone who posted on here.

Dishy set to priority 1
Cell set to priority 2
Heal check for
Health check settings

Http /
url 1 captive.apple.com/ match string / Success
url 2 neverssl.com/ match string / NeverSSL

timeout 4 sec
health check interval 5 sec

health check retries 3
Recovery retries 1

What I find with these settings is that when dish has good signal things are great. When driving IF dishy has issues I can see about a 10-15 sec gap with no signal while the health check fails then cuts over to cell. Once dishy is healthy again it fails back quickly (2 sec gap).

Will be great to see if others have more optimized setup
