TCP port 3389

Hello all! Please help me to understand! I’m not very good with all the RDP processes, but I use it for work. Recently, when I was looking for information on how to make the connection more secure, I read that the Remote desktop protocol uses the TCP port 3389 by default. In order to improve RDP security, you need to change your RDP port. How do I do this?

I would never want rdp exposed to the internet. Setup VPN instead.

Hello. This is especially true when network-level authentication is turned off. If you have Windows you will need to change the registry to change the default RDP port. There are a few steps to do this, see the instructions at How To Change Remote Desktop Port (With Detailed Steps). It describes step by step in detail and the screenshots help to better understand how to do it.
