I have a Pepwave MAX BR1 Pro 5G with T-Mobile and ATT and a Mobility 42G antenna.
I have used this for the past year and it’s worked great until now.
T-Mobile will show connected with an IP address. But will and will not fail the WAN health check. (I’ve seen it do both). When I ping 8.8.8.8 across T-Mobile, it’s 50/50 on whether I get RTO or a response. I can’t move any significant amount of data across T-Mobile. The connectivity will go down for several minutes (4-20 minutes), and often times will remain down for over an hour. All the while the router shows “T-mobile connected” with IP address, default gateway, DNS, etc…
The ATT Sim I have works great, is reliable.
I’ve replaced the T-Mobile SIM card per T-Mobiles recommendation. No change in behavior. I’ve swapped SIM card slots between ATT and T-Mobile. No change in behavior. ATT always works, T-mobile doesn’t. I’ve rebooted several times. And it used to all work great.
My phone is also T-Mobile and it works great. At this point, I’ve ruled out the carrier after 3 support calls with them and the fact that my phone (on t-mobile) always works next to my Pepwave.
Is it possible for the modem in the Peplink to fail for a specific carrier (T-Mobile)? Is this a bug in the current firmware? What else should I try to resolves this?
Peplink MAX BR1 Pro (5G).
