Syslog does not work

Hello,

I configured my Model:Peplink Balance 30 with Firmware:5.2.2 build 1108 to send syslog messages to my logserver.

But the peplink does not send anything ?!?

Remote Syslog Setup

Remote Syslog

 Enable

Remote Syslog Host 172.30.30.3

Port: 514

Is this a bug ?

Check if you can ping your syslog server from the Peplink’s LAN side .

Check the listening Syslog server port and the port configured on the Peplink device.

There is a known rare firmware bug with Syslog on that release. This will be fixed with version 5.3.5 which should be released in the next couple days.

Ah, glad I found this post.

I’ve just spent a few hours trying to work-out why the remote syslog functionality isn’t working on my Balance 30 (5.2.2/1108)…

Any update on the release of 5.3.5, the last post said “a couple of days” and that was a month ago :slight_smile:

Oh, also when remote syslog works OK, what level of detail will i get? Is it more verbose that the internal event log?

This statement of Tim is now round about 2 month old.

Bug Fixes:

• Unable to send syslog to LAN

Still does not work from vpn site-to-site.

e.g. 192.168.0.x send to 192.168.1.199

But from 192.168.0.x send to 192.168.0.199

.199 is log server

I recently bought the peplink 20, updated the firmware to 5.4.6 and i´m not able to change the syslog port number.
