When I setup synergy mode between two devices and then I remove the synergized device and disable the synergy mode checkbox on the controller interface - the synergized device wan interfaces still appear within the Outbound Policies selector screens of the controller device. They are showing in Outbound Policy and yet they are not showing on the main interfaces page.
I could not figure out how to purge those tombstoned interfaces and was forced to factory reset the device acting as the controller.
Is there a proper sequence to follow to ensure that synergized device interfaces are not left behind in a controller?
Is there a procedure one can follow to cleanup them up after the fact?
This guide does not address the question of how to disable cleanly.
Resetting the synergized device isnt so much of a problem for me⦠But factory resetting the device which is the controller is more work to deal with. I have as much as possible managed via inControl but many things are still setup by hand. I dont want to have to reset my controller every time I need to fully eliminate a particular synergized device from that controller.
We are now on 8.4.0. Has this been addressed? Is there a clean way to extricate a synergized device from a controlling device? Is there documentation or an FAQ on this?
Thank you! On a quick look, the Network > WAN page and the main Dashboard page look the same. As such I missed the other page having additional options.
Interesting. With Synergy off, saved, applied and rebooted, the WAN Quality Monitoring, when clicked to Custom, still shows all the interfaces from the no-longer-present synergized device.
The synergized device WAN ports are also still visible in Status / WAN Quality, and the Hourly/Daily/Monthly reports drop down lists them too.
Visibility or lack thereof should not be the goal. Entirely removing a synergized device from a router should be. This may require a different function from the Network > WAN synergy disablement, or perhaps when disabling, there should be an "entirely delete this synergized device, option provided or a function under Advanced to clean up synergized devices.
