Surf Soho PepVPN

I have been trying to connect 2 Surf Soho with dyndns and PepVPN.
I get this message from the event log: Speedfusion: Making VPN connection with an End Point (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) is not allowed.
Does this mean that I need an other Peplink device in one of the ends to make a PepVPN connection?
If so, what devices is suitable for home use? I am trying to link several amateur radio stations to one point, I do not need high troughput, but need the ability to have dynamic DNS in both ends.

Please upgrade to the newest firmware and try again.

Both units have 6.0.3
I have not found a newer firmware

Hi Magnus, the Surf SOHO was originally designed to be a PepVPN endpoint device only and therefor not able to terminate the tunnel directly.

After receiving feedback from our customers and resellers, we have decided to remove this restriction and allow a PepVPN connection between all PepVPN enabled devices. This will be forthcoming in the 6.1.0 firmware release, due out soon.

Please note though that these devices will always have a limit of 2 PepVPN peers, so if you have 3 or more remote devices needing to be established then you would want to look at a Peplink Balance 380 or higher.

Thank you. I will eagerly wait for the new firmware.
Will it be possible to use a Balance 305 for PepVPN? And if it is possible, how many tunnels will it support?

The Balance 305 will probably support PepVPN with the same 2 device limit, if you need more devices you would want to unlock SpeedFusion or just buy a 380 to start with.

2 PepVPN for 305 will be great!!!

Sometimes I need to log into some Balance that are behind a firewall without any public ip to provide support and the 305 give me so much headaches…

I tried the 6.1.0-b17 beta firmware, and I’m not seeing the PepVPN feature. Can you comment as to the availability of this feature?

Hi Jeremyrnelson,

If you referencing the SOHO, the PepVPN option is under Advanced > PepVPN. Now if this is the initial setup, you will need to assign a local ID for the SOHO before being able to build the profile. Once you save the ID, the profile screen should appear allowing for setup.

I hope that helps, let me know if I’m misunderstanding anything at all.

Yes, that did it, thanks! I didn’t realize I had to save the local ID before the rest of the profile would appear.

Hi Jeremyrnelson,

Now if this is for the B305, go ahead and update to 6.1.0 b18 and the option should be there just like the SOHO.

I have upgraded both Surf Soho’s, and PepVPN works now:)
Thanks
