I’m running High Sierra 10.13.6 on a iMac and MacBook Pro. Since updating my router firmware to 7.1.1- I have been unable to connect to the updates server in the App Store. I just get a message saying it ‘cannot connect.’ I’ve had to downgrade my firmware to version: 7.0.1- to get back my connectivity. Has anyone else had the same issue? Can anyone throw any light on the subject. Thank you.
We are looking into this and hope to have more info tomorrow.
Hello Lucid,
If you have Update Sites being blocked under Content Filtering this will cause Apple updates to be blocked due to enhancements added to 7.1.1’s content blocking.
If you do have Update Sites being blocked you can add exemptions from Advanced > Content Blocking > Exempted Domains from Web Blocking. You can add apple.com to ensure nothing from Apple gets blocked, or you can add these are domains to the exemptions list:
iosapps.itunes.apple.com
osxapps.itunes.apple.com
su.itunes.apple.com
se.itunes.apple.com
myapp.itunes.apple.com
swscan.apple.com
itunes-apple.com

Hi Zach,
Thanks for the information. I did have content blocking enabled. I’ll try this workaround. Thank you to everyone for your help. Much appreciated.
