Supply Voltage Display - BR1 Mini or BR1 Pro

Hi all, Has anyone found a way to monitor the supply voltage on a BR1 Mini or BR1 Pro?

We do a considerable amount of remote sites, and many of them via Solar/Batteries. We have looked at options for voltage sensors to trigger an GPIO INPUT to tag if the voltage is low, but it would be much easier if we could monitor the supply voltage in InControl, and ultimately be able to trigger an alert.

Surely I cannot be the only one needing this info??

If you go to the /support.cgi you have some options for voltage monitoring:

but I’m not sure what alerts actually come from this

Thanks Bryn, I actually saw this, and ive put in some values but not seeing anything alarm or alert.
So the unit obviously monitors supply voltage, now just need a way to be able to read it.

AFAIK the br1 mini doesn’t support this.
@Giedrius is there a document that says what models measure voltage?

Hi Jonathan,

the primary source would be a comparison table - Link. However it contains only a general statement (GPIO yes or no) which doesn’t help much in your case.

I have raised internal discussion to provide more details which of the below features are supported for each model:

  • Ignition sensing
  • Digital Input
  • Analog Input
  • Digital Output

Hi Jonathan, Danny,

In short, it looks like that only BR2 Pro 5G supports analog input. However, the upcoming version we plan to release will not include this feature.

As for digital input, almost all of our routers support it, it’s actually difficult to find a model that doesn’t (based on the current models on the Peplink website).

Additionally, InControl 2 (IC2) includes GPIO event functionality, which I believe is what you’re looking for - is that correct?

G.

Thanks for the info. What im really looking for is a value shown in IC2 or on the Web Interface showing the actual supply voltage to the device.

Then the ability to be able to trend that data, similar to what we currently do looking at signal strength.

And if required, then create a notification via IC2 that the supply voltage is low.

Quite critical on the remote sites we are supplying as they are on solar.

Hi Danny,

at this moment the functionality you are asking is not supported. The possible workaround would be to create some sort of a Solar/Batteries low voltage trigger circuit with GPIO output which could trigger BR1 Mini or BR1 Pro GPIO input when the voltage hits certain level. This way you would get notification via IC2.
