Stop Border jumping...

I have a Peplink MAX Transit Duo Pro. I have been using it with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Starlink and I love it. I am having an issue now though that I’m not sur how to solve.

I am in Northern Maine, (Presque Isle) and am trying to get my T-Mobile to connect. It keeps saying Obtaining IP Address but never does. It has the Roaming R so it is probably trying to connect to a tower in Canada. My coverage plan doesn’t work in Canada. However looking at the T-Mobile map it shows 5G coverage all around up here.

Yes the SIM is in slot 1… Is there any way I can steer the pepwave to connect to an American tower?

Assuming the SIM works in another device I’d try these two things:

  1. Check data roaming is disabled on the cellular WAN.

  2. You could try locking the WAN to T-Mobile US either scan or manually enter the PLMN for it, to get these options you need to click the blue question mark next in the cellular WAN settings - screen grabs below.

Thanks! While this looked promising, it did not solve my issue. I selected T-Mobile in Carrier Selection and I denied the Canada roaming code 302 but it still looks like it is “Roaming” with the R showing up and not getting an IP address…

Have you checked that the SIM works at that location in another known good device?

Couple of other things to try:

  1. Check the APN settings are correct, even if they look like it try forcing them in via manual settings just to be sure.

  2. You’re in the US, call T-Mobile and ask them why it wont connect (the forums are awash with posts similar to this where the carrier needs the IMEI to be registered with them and various other things that seem to be very US centric like having the devices “certified” for their network).

I’ve actually been dealing with a low voltage issue at the campground here today… BUT that ended up restarting the peplink. The roaming R is gone and it connected. So maybe I should have done that after I mad the changes?

It seems to be working now, thanks!
