I have set “Location Request Mode » to local on my starlink with a priority plan.
My Balance 3105G on firmware 8.5.4 didn’t show the Starlink location error message. And on Incontrol the Starlink location is ok.
My problem is when I check the port 60660 it’s empty. So GPS forwarding dind’t forward anything.
I can’t reboot the device now, is it required?
I checked the others post and it should work on 8.5.4
Did you get NMEA sentences when Starlink was the source prior to their recent changes? I recall doing a quick test once, and NMEA only worked when the location source was the internal GPS receiver (Max BR1 Mini), not when Starlink was. The Starlink location data comes from an API which provides lat/lon coordinates, not from NMEA sentences. But I may be remembering wrong. I don’t have a Starlink priority plan to re-test.
And it’s not clear that Starlink provides GPS location anymore. See here. It may be that they’re now providing G3 location access through the API.
Also see the post here and note the precision values (HDOP, etc), which are very large if the source were actually GPS, but are more reasonable for H3 locations.
In addition to getting NMEA sentences from port 60660, it’s not clear that GPS forwarding would work with Starlink, unless Peplink is creating NMEA sentences from scratch.
Unfortunately, “GPS” may sometimes be used when “location” is meant. Perhaps @sitloongs can provide some clarification.
