Good morning all,
Just have a query with regards to Starlink uplink connections. The set up I am running is a generic Starlink connected to the PEPLink device (in this instance Balance One).
I am running the Starlink in Bypass Mode due to end users and to limit confusion. However, once in bypass mode the unit is essentially’hidden’ and can’t be connected to via the Starlink App. Other than InControl, is there a way to get to the Starlink Antenna in the same fashion as the app via IP / GUI connection? I can see the Starlink has a connection and a generic IP address. Is there a network / port setting that can be created to allow a direct IP connection?
After a bit of playing have managed to resolve (and some youtube hints…)
Steps;
Upgrade Software / Firmware to latest revision
Enable Starlink connection in software
Starlink logo will appear next to the connected WAP
Use Starlink App once connected to the PEPlink device
A few things here:
-
Peplink devices need firmware 8.4.0 to have the “deep linking” with Starlink terminals
-
Starlink terminals are always accessible from the app via their in-band connection to the Starlink network (not on your local network). Local network connection between your app and the Starlink terminal adds additional capabilities to the app, but is not required to see most data from the terminal.
-
Starlink features needs to be enabled on the Peplink WAN port it is connected to via the Peplink’s local device interface
Bypass mode in Starlink is ideal but not required to make any of this work.
