Speedfusion bonding fail over question

Dear,

According to the documentation:

Automatic Hot Failover handoff − SpeedFusion Bonding monitors connections and automatically turns control over to Hot Failover when links become unstable.

Where do I find more information about “become unstable”?

The particular use case I’m looking for is the following:

  • provider A guarantees bandwidth at a high cost
  • provider B has no bandwidth guarantees at a low cost

Whenever the bandwidth of provider B goes below x MB/s the switch to provider B should be made.

Is that possible with your product?

Regards,
Bart

No that’s not possible - exactly.

Peplink devices monitor WAN link characteristics, they do not actively monitor the amount of bandwidth currently available on a link.

However, if we assume that when WAN link B is low bandwidth the link will get saturated and so latency will rise considerably - then you can use that as a trigger for SpeedFusion to use an alternative WAN link (A in your Case).

In effect then, WAN link B will be removed from the speedfusion bonded VPN when it gets saturated (or when it has run out of bandwidth), and WAN A will be used until WAN B’s latency drops.

Hi Martin,

That is a wonderful suggestion, thanks!

I’ll ask my colleagues if that’s an option.

Thanks,
