Hi,
When I put the Starlink in bypass mode and connect the Starlink to my wan port my speed decrease massively. When I switch back to the Starlink router the speed tripels. Why is my pepwave wan slowing down so much ?
I have a Pepwave MAX BR1 MK2, Firmware 8.3.0 Using it on a boat with prio 1 Starlink, LTE prio 2 and Wifi prio 3. (As LTE is fixed price and its more stable then the WIFI)
Try adding a cheap unmanaged switch between the Starlink and the Peplink. That seemed to work for me.
Ahoy There,
Have you ensured you run the correct MTU of 1500?
Yep, MTU 1500 now, nothing changed (was 1440)
OK - I’d check the following,
- Speed direct from device through bypassed Starlink Router. Don’t use Speedtest, use something like Internet Speed Test - Measure Network Performance | Cloudflare
- Check your Peplink is running latest FW
- Are you testing using Wi-Fi or cable?
- Consider that this router is only capable of running 100mbps, this might be the primary reason why it’s slower.
See router specs here: Peplink.com - Model Comparison
Don’t forget to share your test results so we can compare.
I’m late to this thread and recently put my Starlink into Bypass and connected directly to the Peplink. I’m really not a fan of the performance. Can someone explain what the best settings are to optimize.
MTU is at 1440
What do these two settings do?
Upload Bandwidth 1 Gbps
Download Bandwidth 1 Gbps
Hey,
MTU Should be fixed to 1500 - with 1440 you’ll have lots of issues, slow speed, dropped packets etc…
I personally always set health check to PING, and set Google and Cloudflare
As for the rest, you can leave default, unless you start playing with Speedfusion.
