SIM Cards and Provisioning

Hi Yall,

i am currently running into a wall here, i have @ BR-1’s (one Mini and one Classic) both on the same yacht. they have SIMs that have been provisioned by T-Mobil along with the other SIM’s for the crew phones. the phones and ipads work well (23Mbps) while my BR-1’s are passing .5 Mbps.
I have had the card cages re-flashed, re-provisioned the SIM cards, and checked the antennas. this feels like the early days when they would go to the Caribbean and they Lime/ BTC store didnt know how to provision correctly.

i would leave it at that however, a different yacht with a balance 20 on VZ is having the same .5 Mbps issue.
are the cell companies holding back? anyone else having this issue?

thanks
scott

Could it be that the T-Mobile plan for the SIM cards (and phones) throttle tethered access to 3G speeds? The BR-1s might be subject to the carrier’s tethering limitations (that is the case with Verizon, for instance).

Correct!!
Found out today that VZ did throttle the data on a “data only” SIM because or high volume of usage. That’s what the account rep at VZ told the capt this morning. He upped his plan and they are back off to the races.
The T-Mobil cards slightly different story, 12 “lines” on the commerical account and they put the throttle on the 2 that were sucking data (the BR-1’s) “as to keep the usage in the pool from being eatten up” the friendly account rep told my other Capt.
He was able to get a bigger plan for just the cards, at enterprise class speeds.

Thanks for the responce
