I have a peplink max transit duo with a Parsec Husky Pro antenna.
The max transit is mounted in the front of my 31ft class a rv in a open shelf the parsec antenna is also mounted on the roof in the front. I get sub standard wifi signals in the rear of the rv where the master bedroom is and cannot stream video.
The question is should I get an access point or I have seen a couple threads saying to mount an internal antenna.
I am leaning to an access point. Can I use any access point or is the better choice going with the peplink brand.
Or is an internal mounted wifi antenna the way to go.
Access Point has it’s own CPU, so if you want the best throughput, I always lean towards taking load off the router and having a dedicated AP. However, in an RV, Power Consumption might be an issue, that’s where using an antenna will save you a constant lets say 3 watts of power. Access Points always list the highest boot and CPU power(14.4 to 19 watts), but in practice, most of mine trickle below 3 watts when idle. As for Peplink or other brand, the main advantage there is if you want all your devices to appear in the Peplink Admin page. If you go with another brand, you will be logging into 2 devices to manage it all, if you go with Peplink, the Max Transit can act as a controller, making the AP a dumb device for a single pane of glass management style. Hope that 2 cents helps.
