Set throughput limit on data cap

Thank you @Michael. Also @Eddy_Yeung.

I contacted support and CK advised that there is no fw ver 5.2.3 and referred me to this post: https://forum.peplink.com/t/known-issue-8-5-2-device-not-adhered-to-ic2-data-pool-plan-restriction/56368

I referred Ck back to this post and he advised that, “Firmware 8.5.3 is not released/available yet.I had a look at Michael’s reply on the forum post, he did mention while 8.5.3 is needed, it is not released yet, only the special firmware is available for the time being.” Which is doubly interesting considering that the dialog message would also indicate that 8.5.3 is required.

That is very confusing messaging.

Regardless, I wanted to withhold comment until I had an opportunity to test. Firstly, creating SIM pools at scale appears to be a kludgy process. Secondly, I don’t know how the adoption rate of SIM Pools has gone thus far but the handful of MSP Partners I have spoken with simply don’t use that feature. Lastly, it doesn’t work well.

Where the settings eventually throttled data, it was at a point well in excess of the set threshold - 500 MB set, allowed over 2 GB to pass before throttle.

As @MartinLangmaid, @Jonathan_Pitts, @Captain_Nik and others have written, this feature needs to reside on the local device vs in SIM Pools and, ultimately, should include other WAN sources in order to add value. Appreciate the efforts here but this just won’t work as-is.

I have a Partner who has an immediate need for this feature as a Client requirement before they will adopt Peplink…
