SDX Pro High Availability Issues with Two Switches

Greetings! I have two SDX Pros in HA and two 24 port Peplink switches connected via DACs.

There are currently no VLANs and all ports are set to trunk. The second SDXP is not in the config sync/standby mode.
Things are working for the most part, however:

  • If I disconnect just the green DAC, the bottom switch goes offline.
  • If I disconnect just the orange DAC, the top switch goes offline.
  • If I disconnect both green and orange, both switches remain online, but the top SDXP goes offline in IC2, even though it has an active WAN.

This is unexpected, as both switches have alternate links.

Seems like network loop was created and suspect STP blocked one of the physical links. I suggest connecting the devices as below:

Is STP enabled on that design?
