RMA'd Unit and VPN License?

Purchased a “New in Box” Balance 30+ on Facebook Marketplace a few months ago. Seems to be working fine, and I purchased with full knowledge that I was getting a several year old, out of warranty unit. The rationale for purchase was that it had a bit more horsepower than the Surf Soho it replaced, and the fact that the Soho does not appear to support FW 9.0 going forward.

Unfortunately, I just attempted to purchase the Open VPN license, and a warning window popped up saying the provided serial number was an RMA unit.

Is there any recourse to clear this status and purchase Open VPN? Obviously I’m not attempting to return a several year old B30+ to peplink, and I have no issues with the unit itself (beside this).

return the unit to seller that misrepresented it, get a refund, and get a non-RMA unit. RMA means something is wrong with it. balance 20x is a good option to replace surf soho.

Yes RMA means the unit was meant to be destroyed or reported stolen.
