Request PIM (Protocol Independent Multicast Routing) support over SpeedFusion and L3 Routing on MAX and Balance devices

HI there,

I am new to the community and don´t know if I am in the right place with this request. We will deploy in a couple of months a new peplink VPN infrastructure for our outside broadcast trucks. It would be great if we can route multicast over the speed fusion tunnel to get the benefit of bonding over multiple WAN connections.

Is there a chance to implement PIM (protocol independent multicast routing) support over speed fusion and L3 Routing on MAX and Balance devices?

Best regards

Stefan

Protocol Independent Multicast Routing would be a great addition.

Even if assessed by Peplink engineering and then approved for inclusion, you are unlikely to see PIM added before you deploy in a couple of months.

In the meantime, you can mix L3 and L2 tunnels across different vlans so I would suggest you consider using L2 tunnels that will allow multicast traffic to pass over SpeedFusion and L3 tunnels that will not for other types of traffic (internet access, VoIP etc).

Adding support for PIM-aware functionality on Speedfusion.

Good to read support is being added for PIM aware functionality on SpeedFusion. Can you advise the ETA when “PIM aware functionality” will be available for release?

Has anyone heard any more about PIM for Peplinks?

Have not heard anything, but this would be helpful to have.
