Remote SIM Issues / SIM Injector Module / HD4 MBX 5G

We are running a remote Sim Server with a SDX and the Sim Injector module.
HD4 MBX are connected temporary to this server on different construction sites.

The following problem appears now randomly on different HD4 MBX 5G routers with 8.4.1s032 build 5812 which are connected to this service:

MBX Router boots with a roaming SIM in Slot 1 / Cellular 1 and checks the remote SIM Server for SIM Cards.
This usually works fine, takes a couple of minutes, then the remote local provider sims take over, to avoid high roaming costs.

we have now experienced several times the same issue:

  • Cellular 2-4 disconnect, Cellular 1 stays online with the remote SIM, not the roaming SIM.
  • Cellular 2-4 stay in Connecting…

we see the following in the log of the MBX:

|Nov 20 11:14:49|WAN: Cellular 2 (Priority 1) disconnected|
|Nov 20 11:14:44|WAN: Cellular 3 (Priority 1) disconnected|
|Nov 20 11:14:40|WAN: Cellular 4 (Priority 1) disconnected|
|Nov 20 11:14:36|WAN: Cellular 4 SIM injector XXXX slot 33 removed, reloading SIM|
|Nov 20 11:14:36|WAN: Cellular 3 SIM injector XXXX slot 22 removed, reloading SIM|
|Nov 20 11:14:36|WAN: Cellular 2 SIM injector XXXX slot 7 removed, reloading SIM|

The log of the SDX with the SIM injector module shows nothing, SIMs are still in the slots and blinking connected, SIMs in the SIM injector List marked as Linked.

Resetting the SIM Module of the MBX showed no effect.
Update Remote SIM Settings showed no effect.
Changing the remote SIM Slot to another remote SIM showed no effect.
Only a reboot solves the issue.

Any ideas?

we need @AgentAdam he’ll know.

I wonder if its a latency issue from the MBX to the sim injector.

Are you using a public IP on the SDX or are you using a speedfusion tunnel to get to the injector?

Also do you know which modems your MBX has, GD, GN, somrthing else?

Should be no latency issue, because just Cellular1 always stays connected with the SIM Injector. Cellular 2-4 just fall back to “connecting”

We are using port forward from public IP to private IP, which works flawless since we have the device, no tunneling.
MBX has GD Modems

Are you using a speed fusion tunnel an all from the MBX to the SDX?

Doesn’t sound strange.

Is there a supported ticket open with Peplink?

We found a workaround, which is running stable now for more than a week without disconnecting the Remote SIM:
At Cellular Settings / SIM Card we have added the SIM Slot A or B with lower priority, even if there was no physical Card in the Slot:
