Hi there,
Wondering if any of you can help us with this small little issue.
I have a user who needs to access server resources when he is overseas.
They are using Peplink Balance One. Firmware updated to 7.0.2 build 3155.
This is a very small office so the network is very flat; one single VLAN.
DHCP handled by Peplink Balance One.
I’ve enabled L2TP VPN on the Remote Access User section and created the user profile.
Though the VPN connects, none of the internal resources is reachable.
Further checks discovered that the VPN link does not receive a gateway from DHCP.
Gateway is showing up as 0.0.0.0
As this user is the managing director, I really do need to get his VPN working.
Any ideas to get this resolved highly appreciated.
Regards,
Edwyn
@EdwynT, it is normal to see the 0.0.0.0 when you are connected via remote VPN (eg. L2TP over IPsec), that is the industry standard representation. You could see from my simple test below, I can access the internal hosts despite with the 0.0.0.0 as Default Gateway via L2TP over IPsec.
Can you open up a ticket here for me to take a look ? Once you open up the ticket, please share the ticket number here.

Hi Oh,
Thanks for that.
Ticket number: #784508
just curious what was the fix?
@astryukov The USB Modem being used was in the same IP range as the LAN, causing a conflict. It was advised to create a new VLAN with a different IP address range and allow L2TP to that new VLAN.

Hi,
I can relate to it as I was facing the same issue and then I found a very useful guide to resolve my remote access VPN connectivity issue. You may find it useful too.
