Our B310X is used for remote access with L2TP. The remote user gets a LAN IP anywhere in the DHCP range… The remote users need to access a server on the LAN. The server is restricted to a smaller subnet, not accessible to just any LAN user. I need a way to specify a DHCP IP range for remote access users that is a small portion of the entire LAN. How can I do that?
Create separate VLAN for remote access users only.
Yes I agree but how do I tell the remote access server to use that blank and issue dhcp in that range?
use a DHCP reservation in that range to give that user the same IP each time
Bryan I am familiar with DHCP reservation for LAN devices but how do I create one for a remote access connection? Will the remote PC MAC address appear? That might create a problem for some users but it surely would create another level of security we might like.
yes, there is a mac address entry for the virtual interface on the remote device. When one of them is connected you will be able to see that in the active clients view.
