I am currently deploying a Peplink B One Plus on a marine vessel that operates internationally. I need to monitor the vessel’s location via InControl 2 for fleet management purposes.
Since the B One Plus does not appear to have a dedicated GPS SMA connector like the MAX BR1 series, I am looking for a solution to add GPS capability.
Does the B One Plus support external USB GPS receivers?
If yes, is there a specific list of compatible devices (e.g., GlobalSat) that you would recommend for a maritime environment?
Any advice on hardware compatibility would be greatly appreciated.
I am deploying this on an international container ship using Starlink and OneWeb.
Unfortunately, I cannot rely on these connections for location tracking because my Starlink provider restricts location data, and the OneWeb integration on the B One Plus doesn’t support GPS forwarding.
Therefore, a USB GPS solution is my only option to get the vessel’s position onto InControl 2. Has anyone tested specific USB GPS receivers (e.g., GlobalSat or similar) with the B One Plus?
If you have Furuno equipment at the helm, then all of that information is available on its network. This is how I feed Marine Traffic via GPSgate. Use UDP port 10021 for GPS data and here are some other ports:
10010 Device declaration and version
10021 GPS & AIS
10024 Radar
10033 AIS
10034 ARPA
10036 Heading
10043 TZT14
If you have other equipment, then you need to scan via WireShark to verify what is available.
