Is it possible to adjust the read only user or create another user level so that all settings and values are viewable as with admin access but changes cannot be made? Currently read only users are not able to read any values that would exist under the SFC Protect, Network, Advanced, or System tabs. So not only can the read only user not change these settings, they cannot read them either largely defeating the purpose. If a user for instance wanted to allow for support to assist in determining a network issue, allowing support access through a read only user would be ideal, but only if that user could see settings.
A read only user should be able to see all settings, except maybe the admin security settings, but not be allowed to make any changes. I’m sure this would be a benefit in a number of other situations as well.
I do agree this can be improved. The request was filed.
Thanks.
Hi @TK_Liew
I know it’s still very early in the process, but I was curious if there was any indication at this point when something like this could be expected. Even if it’s a very loose targeted firmware.
A rough estimate is 8.3.3 for the time being.
wondering if could set up an “Operator” user, which can do basic ops like change connection sequency (for router) and connect to wifi and input password.
I recommend multiple users roles on the local device, these can map to a incontrol2 user.
Read-only becomes a new view of everything accept local admin device password without the ability to make changes.
Limited view.
Becomes the current read-only.
Limited access.
Change wifi name or password.
Cycle vpn tunnels new feature (turns off, then back on after tunnel goes down).
Reboot unit.
Change port forwarding settings.
read-only view for all other settings except admin password.
Thoughts or other roles needed?
Dear all, Have there been any recent developments on this topic? Please let me know if there are plans to arrange for this type of access in the near future.
+1 for my defined access levels above Read only user - #8 by Jiang_Lin
