Racing yacht Cellular and WiFi access point

Hi
What would be your recommended setup for wireless access point on 72ft carbon grand prix racing yacht. The primary purpose of the access point is provide a WiFi network which we use to connect on deck tablets for remote desktop pc navigation and systems control. Additionally cellular connectivity for data is required. The yacht is 100% carbon which has a big affect on the range and interference.
Thanks

Firstly I would recommend you speak with the team at Osprey Technical - they know their onions when it comes to racing sailboats and Peplink.

Otherwise you want the wifi and cellular above decks. The new Antenna MAX with a BR1 Mini 5G in it at the right height should provide good above decks wifi coverage. That can be POE powered by a single ethernet run to below decks where you can then add additional below deck APs for wifi coverage there.

But that is very entry level. I always recommend at least dual 5G cellular connections on race vessels so you can connect to multiple providers and use Speedfusion VPN to reliably stream CCTV / video from the vessel to shore as well as race data.

Dual cellular solutions raise commercial and technical questions (which device, what size is it, what space is available on the rigging etc), which is why I recommend you speak with a Peplink marine specialist.
@Captain_Nik is the most obvious pro to speak with - I know he can help.

Ahoy!

Thanks for posting here and as @MartinLangmaid so eloquently laid out it might be best to reach out to a team of experts like Osprey or whomever is physically closest to you for onboard support.

Installing Wi-Fi and electronics on a racing yacht is not always easy, so finding the right partner is key.

The Antenna MAX + BR1 Pro 5G is great - and it could be installed for easy removal on a spreader for racing. If you need something more permanent, it would depend on vessel design where we can best implement antenna solutions without compromising on hull and mast design.

Cheers !
