Puma 421 vs Mobility 42G

According to the datasheets on the Puma 421 vs the Mobility 42G
PUMA 421
2.7dBi 617-960mhz
5.2dBi 1710-2700mhz
4.9dBi 3400-4200mhz
6.7dBi 5000-6000mhz

Mobility 42G
4.4dBi 617-960mhz
7.8 dBi 1710-2700mhz
7.9 dBi 3400-4200mhz
8.2 dBi 5000-6000mhz

That’s quite a bit of difference in dBi gain on the various frequencies.

Yet, then I ran across this article which says the following:

Why has the PUMA Antenna become the Mobility Antenna?
The PUMA Antenna has been engineered specifically towards mobile applications, although it can cater to various verticals. In order to align our product names for future antennas, we have decided to revise them all to reflect the relevant verticals.

Are there any specification differences?
No, the specifications are exactly the same. The only difference is the SKU and Name.

So, the data sheets illustrate a significant difference in dBi gain in favor of the 42G over the Puma 421. Yet this documentation from Peplink says “the specifications are the same”.

I don’t know what to believe. Can anyone offer some insight?

Hi Martin,

the Puma-421 or MB-42G are same antennas. For the MB-42G we have updated Gain information when the antenna has a ground plane. In the datasheet you will find a Gain values w and w/o ground plane.
