Power Supply on Max BR1 Mini HW3

The max BR1 mini hw3 data sheet states that it can be powered from POE 802.3at sources and it uses 18W max. I am interested in using a source that can provide POE using the 802.3aF standard up to 24W. This is an older standard that doesn’t handle as much power as the 802.3at standard. Typically the two standards are backwards compatible as long as the power limits aren’t exceeded, but I haven’t tried it in this context. I’ve attached the data sheet for the source I would like to use. Can you ask if peplink thinks it will be compatible?

The source I am interested in using is the PDCPOEVA48AF DC–DC Converter with PoE Injector

Hi Lynley,

I checked the PDCPOEVA48AF datasheet (link) and it looks like it should work. Very likely this vendor didn’t implement power classification and it will deliver up to 24W.

It also looks like the PoE Injector you are interested doesn’t support Gigabit Ethernet, only 100M. Or at least how it looks like it support 100M only from their given pinout. If that is not an issue, everything else should be fine.

Lastly, we didn’t test this PoE Inserter, so I can not 100% guarantee it will work and there there will be no issues.

Thank you very much.
