Port Settings for Microsoft Xbox Live

The Peplink Balance is compatible with Microsoft Xbox Live online service. For Peplink Balance to accommodate Xbox Live traffic, you would need to configure an Outbound Traffic Rule to enable persistence and Inbound Access Service to allow inbound access for the ports listed below.

  • Port 88 (UDP)
  • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 80 (TCP)
  • Port 500 (UDP)
  • Port 3544 (UDP)
  • Port 4500 (UDP)

Configuration

To configure an Outbound Traffic Rule:

  1. In Web Administration Interface, go to Network > Outbound Policy.
  2. Add a new rule using the Add Rule button
  3. Configure the settings for the new rule as follows:
    • Service Name: Xbox
    • Enable: Yes
    • Source (IP): Any
    • Destination (IP): Any
    • Protocol: UDP
    • Port: Single Port - 88
    • Algorithm: Persistence
    • Persistence Mode: By Source
    • Load Distribution: Auto
    • Terminate Sessions on Link Recovery: leave it as unchecked

  4. Click Save at the bottom of the page, and the screen will automatically return to the Outbound Policy main page.
  5. Similarly, repeat Step 1 to 4 for all other ports. Please note that for some ports 3074 and 53, you will need to enable from the TCP port and UDP port.

To configure an Inbound Access Service:

  1. In Web Administration Interface, go to Network > Inbound Access > Servers; add a new server using the Add Server button, and configure the settings as follows:
    • Server Name: XBOX
    • IP Address: enter the Xbox IP address, e.g. 192.168.1.10

  2. Click Save and the screen will automatically return to the Inbound Access Servers main page.

  4. Click Save and the screen will automatically return to the Inbound Access Services main page.
  5. Similarly, repeat Step 3 for all other ports. Please note that for some ports 3074 and 53, you will need to enable from the TCP port and UDP port.To configure an Inbound Access Service:
When done entering all the configuration parameters, remember to click Apply Changes on upper right-hand corner of the screen for the rules to take effect.
